    • [ – ] staticmesh reply As someone who has been with YouTube for most of their life, I have to say Vid.me has immense nostalgic appeal to me. It is so similar to the old-school YouTube, from the videos to the sense of community.
      • deocreative parent reply I don't know how active users vid.me has (they say 25 million.) But it feels real "inclosed." It feels more communal to me. This is something I've never had. As I never used YouTube until 2014.

      • Wulfomir parent reply An islamist (ISIS style) making videos would be the perfect example of hate speech, calling for the death of all infidels. No video ever made by Styx comes close to that so I think he will be just fine.
      • diggy_dude parent reply Yeah, it's vague and open to broad interpretation. As we've seen, the SJWs can and will label anything and everything they don't like as "racist" or "bigotry" or whatever. I'd feel more assured if vid.me gave us a firmer idea of their philosophy regarding free speech, critique, etc. As it stands, they're either deliberately leaving it open for censorship and other arbitrary abuse further down the line, or they were just too lazy to write a coherent policy.

I like Vid.me but it doesn't appear to have a subscription feed like YouTube does, where all the new videos from your subscribed channels show up in the order in which they are released. If there's something I'm missing please correct me, but if there's no "Recent subscription activity" feature then that's a deal breaker for me unless YouTube actually starts banning channels that I like.
    • yurisuika reply Once I saw that Varg was on here, I knew it was taking off! I've used Vimeo for years, they are more film-centric oriented but a very good site for short films and works that use special aspect ratios.

    • prepTorrent reply Personally, I think 480 is fine for your videos. It's not like you have screenshots of webpages like wikipedia with hard-to-read text on it which requires HD video. So 720p is easily good enough. Seeing as you are archiving or backing up bulk video, you may or may not be interested in making annual compilations on torrents since such a body of knowledge can be used to red-pill people who like to binge-watch. Websites can be great but since websites alone cannot be relied on as the only platform, for those sharing annual archives of their own videos via torrents, here is a video of the prepTorrent naming convention (whereby the names of files contain fields as variables which can be used to make composite keys and so on, even with sloppy code such as if else stattements, while loops and filehandlers to make text files and csv file etc, cataloguing prepTorrents you have encountered). It is a great way to give the middle finger to censorship because it need not use 'one' centralised websi...morete (even just an app would do). The video is basic but it works. I remember Renetto in some of his vid's with arguments along similar lines, however there were no valid alternatives. Admire and respect Syx for his forward action on this; but when cat videos have a million views, we must remember that entertainment rules the day. That Entertainment > Philosophy marketwise was proven by Youtube 10 years ago.
